Licencing
Council provides a licencing service through the Department of Planning and Infrastructure. Licencing can be processed at Council’s Administration Office on Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm.
- Licence renewals and transfers for cars, motorcycles, mopeds, caravans, trailers, buses, trucks, road trains, tractors, mobile cranes, forklifts, earthmovers, mobile farm implements and other vehicles.
- Boat registrations and renewals, as well as firearm licence renewals are also able to be processed.
- Farm Licence.
- Drivers licence testing is also available which include, Hazard Perception Tests (HPT) and Computerised Theory Testing (CTT). Bookings are essential for all Drivers Licence tests.
- Custom and Special Series Licence plates are available which give you the choice of style, wording and numbering for your car number plates.

Examination Centres
The following centres are authorised to examine your vehicle, please remember though that if your vehicle is currently not licenced you will be required to obtain a temporary permit prior to driving your vehicle.

Drivers Licence Bookings
Drivers licence testing is also available which include, Hazard Perception Tests (HPT) and Computerised Theory Testing (CTT). Bookings are essential for all Drivers Licence tests.
Under the changes made to the Licensing System the Police are no longer conducting Practical Driving Assessments and they can now be booked through the Shire.
The assessor will be in York every second Thursday morning and be able to conduct practical tests for licence classes up to and including HR.
Upcoming dates: July 17 & 31, August 14 & 28, September 11 & 25, October 2, 16 & 30, November 13 & 27, December 11.
There are only 6 test spots available each day so please book in advance.
