YAC stands for Youth Advisory Council consisting of an age group of 12 to 25 year olds who are willing to share opinions, listen to others and also everyone gets to have their say on hot topics that effect youth in York.

Yac provides opportunities for young people to:

  • Work with other young people
  • Work as a team
  • Develope leadership skills and qualities
  • Gain more knowledge about youth issues and how to make a difference

The YAC members have a strong role to play in helping to decide funding prorities for youth facilities aand services
and encouraging greater particpation by young people in a range of community initiatives, but most of all the YAC memebers find it rewarding and a positive experience.

By particpating in YAC, you can find out the latest cutting edge info regarding youth activities in WA and in and around the Wheatbelt.  You can help, and get help, to organise any youth event, from bus trips to neighbouring towns to Blue Light disco’s, the beach or what ever seems like a good idea at the time.  Learn and talk about youth issues, from boredom to how to get a job and get some groovy event management skills at the same time.

YAC Meetings occur every second Monday of the month, 5pm at the York Shire Library with food and drink provided.  To get involve with YAC, you can turn up to the meetings and put your name down for one of our advertised events.
