Canola season is here and the fields of yellow are once again attracting interstate and international visitors.

The Shire is trialling additional safety strategies this year including a multi-lingual canola information flyer, availability of biosecurity signage for farming properties and peak weekend ranger patrols. More information on these strategies is available from the Shire office or the York Visitor Centre.

DPIRD (Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development) have issued a media release and have multi-lingual signage available at their Northam office (1300 374 731).  View DPIRD’s media release, ‘Enjoy the view but stay out of flowering canola’.

The York Business Association (YBA) will also be delivering the ‘Canolification’ project in conjunction with local business involvement. For more information on the‘ Canolalification’ project, contact Jo Bryant from the YBA on 0411 287 944.
