MEDIA RELEASE

SHIRE LAUNCHES SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE

The Shire of York has this week entered the world of social media with the creation of a Shire of York Facebook page and Instagram account.

“This is the next step in the Shire improving how it communicates and engages with the community”, Shire President, Cr David Wallace said.

These social media platforms will be used to promote events, inform the community on road works and major projects.  They will also be used as part of consultation and engagement as a tool for the Shire to hear about issues affecting the community.

Links to the pages can be found at:

“I would encourage everyone to engage with the Shire using these mediums by liking the Facebook page and joining our Instagram account”.  Shire President Cr David Wallace said.

Liking the Shire’s Facebook page will enable you to receive regular updates and posts of Shire and community information.

Cr Wallace said, “Although we are starting out in this area we are committed to making these pages work for the community and visitors to the Shire.”

The Shire of York earlier in the year established a Social Media Policy which guides how the Shire manages its Social Media presence. This policy can be found on the Shire’s website www.york.wa.gov.au.
