Shire of York Cat Local Law 2017

Council at its meeting held on 26 February 2018 resolved to adopt the Shire of York Cat Local Law 2017.

The purpose of the proposed local law is to provide Council with measures in addition to those under the Cat Act 2011 to control the keeping and welfare of cats.

The effect of this local law is to promote responsible cat ownership, reduce the nuisance to the community caused by cats and to limit the damage to and the loss of wildlife caused by cats.

A copy of the local law may be inspected here or obtained during office hours at the Shire of York, 1 Joaquina Street, York 6302.

This Local Law was gazetted on 16 March 2018 and will come into operation on 30 March 2018.
