Cr David Wallace resigns

Shire of York Councillor and former Shire President David Wallace has tendered his resignation from Council, effective June 8 2020.

Cr Wallace was first elected to Council on 21 October 2013 and elected as Shire President on 19 October 2015 for a two-year term. He was sworn in as Shire President again on 23 October 2017 for a further two-year term.  Mr Wallace was a proactive councillor who worked closely with the executive to improve the shire’s governance.

Shire President Denese Smythe said ‘I would like to acknowledge ex-Councillor Wallace’s service to the community since his election in 2013 and thank him for his commitment to the Shire.  Council wishes him well in his future endeavours.”

CEO Chris Linnell said that he had ‘reluctantly accepted Mr Wallace’s resignation. Mr Wallace has made a significant contribution to council over a number of years, including four years as Shire of York President…we wish him every success for the future’.  

The Council will consider the extraordinary vacancy at the June Council meeting.
