The Government of Western Australia has declared a State of Emergency and a Public Health Emergency in response to COVID-19 coronavirus.

In a bid to slow the spread of the virus the closure of indoor venues, including pubs, clubs, sporting and religious venues is now in effect.

This means the York Recreation & Convention Centre and Gymnasium are now closed to minimise exposure of community and staff.

The following events have been postponed or cancelled:

  • Community Road Safety Meeting
  • Nin's Birthday Book Trail
  • York’s Big Dance Weekend
  • WA Gravity Enduro 2020
  • York Photographic Awards
  • A Night at the Palace of the Stars 2020
  • Digging York’s Past - Ask an Archaeologist!
  • 2020 York Motorcycle Festival
  • Botanicalia Artisan Market
  • York Senior Residents' Forum & Expo

The Shire of York is following the direction of the Dept. of Health to provide an environment that is safe and healthy and will allow us to continue to provide essential community services.
