SHIRE OF YORK MEDIA RELEASE - HELP SHAPE THE STRATEGY

The Shire of York is preparing a new Local Planning Strategy and Local Planning Scheme. To help shape the Strategy the Shire is inviting input from the community.

This strategy will provide a long-term vision, goal and objective to guide future land use and development of the Shire.

The new local planning strategy and scheme will support the Council’s Strategic Community Plan, 2016. The Strategy will focus on the exciting future plans for the Shire of York.

Your ideas and feedback are important and will be used in the development of the strategy and scheme. Once Strategies are prepared, more community information sessions will be held to gain your feedback.

Shire President, Cr David Wallace encourages the community to get involved “With the preparation of the Strategic Community Plan in 2016 we had a really constructive conversation with the community about the vision for the Shire. Now, the review of our Local Planning Strategy and Scheme gives us the opportunity to continue this discussion and, in partnership with the community, plan for the future of York.”

How to get involved:

An online survey is available, and the community is encouraged to provide their thoughts. A youth survey is also available, and our future generations are encouraged to participate as well.  The closing date for the survey is 18 December 2017.

The Shire is holding two community information sessions. The sessions will be held

Thursday 23 November at 5pm to 7pm at the Town Hall

Saturday 25 November at 10am to 12noon at the Town Hall
