COMMUNITY COVID-19 INFORMATION & SUPPORT PACK

Published on Tuesday, 8 March 2022 at 11:49:16 AM

The Shire has prepared a community mailout to answer the most common questions we have heard regarding COVID-19 and living in York.

The Community COVID-19 Information & Support Pack includes local information as well as the most relevant information from the State and Federal Governments. The pack is being sent to all York addresses, including PO boxes and road side addresses.   It is expected to arrive from week commencing 8 March 2022.  You can also download or view the mail out here.

The Shire of York has also implemented a number of changes to the way we do business as we prepare for an increased case load in York.

We have put measures in place to ensure our services keep running during significant community outbreak. Our Business Continuity Plan COVID-19 Pandemic Response has identified critical activities for each department and established guidelines for our staff to ensure we are able to maintain essential services.

We have implemented changes to the way we do business that you need to be aware of:

  • Shire Administration - customer enquiry, licensing, rates payment, environmental health, building and planning have transitioned to appointment only. Please call 9641 0500 to make an appointment.
  • York Library - admission is by appointment. Please call 9641 0515 to book your slot. You can also order books via phone or email for collection by you or your YORKIND volunteer.
  • Visitor Centre - staff are working split shifts and the Centre will be closed between 1.30pm and 2pm for cleaning daily.
  • Residency Museum - admission is by appointment for a 1 hour slot with a mximum of 20 people.  Please call the Museum on 9641 1751 to make a reservation, we expect to be able to accommodate short notice bookings.

All of these changes are important to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community and our staff.

We are working closely with health professionals, community groups and businesses to ensure that you are well informed and well supported. We are partnering with other service providers and community groups to make sure you have access to the information and assistance you need. We have re-instigated the YORKIND program and you can call 0460 039 935 or 9641 0500 if you require support or want to volunteer to assist a local community member.

For the majority of people who contract COVID-19 in York, the emphasis in our community will be on Care at Home. We hope the information in this pack will assist you to find the answers you need, when you need them. Please contact the Shire by email at records@york.wa.gov.au or on 9641 0500 if you have suggestions as to how we at the Shire can support you better.
