The Shire of York is seeking a highly motivated person to be our Container Deposit Site Supervisor and operate the Shire’s Container Deposit Site Wednesdays & Saturdays. This role will involve:

  • Supervising the operations of the Container Deposit Site and ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Overseeing the rostering of staff to ensure sufficient coverage during leave and staff absence.
  • Completing cash handling tasks relevant to operating the facility such as daily reconciliations and organising the float for cash rebates.
  • Ensuring contaminants, lids and ineligible containers are removed before processing eligible containers at the refund point.
  • Ensuring that materials received are sorted into specific categories as required and where necessary to allow storage receptacles to be transported with forklift to collection zones.
  • Ensuring that eligible container quantities are counted/tallied in an efficiently, accurately and timely manner.
  • Ensuring all container count data is recorded and made available for operational records / stats.
  • Completing and process manifest documents each Wednesday ready for Friday collection or as otherwise determined.
  • Ensuring staff maintain work areas to a high standard during operations and ensure entire facility is clean at end of day.
  • Ensuring that staff and customers comply with the work site safety requirements.
  • Have good knowledge of safe work procedures, complete daily SWMS and WHS training relevant to work being performed.



The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 4 of the Shire of York Outside Staff Collective Enterprise Agreement 2019 ($78,364.72 - $82,257.48) pro rata. Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s age, skills and experience.

11.50% superannuation plus salary sacrificing option with matching Shire contribution up to 5%.
