Update on York Community Resource Centre

Published on Wednesday, 4 October 2023 at 4:34:43 PM

The CRC was placed into voluntary administration by their committee on 19 July 2023 and KPMG was appointed as the Administrator.

At its September 2023 Ordinary Meeting, Shire of York Council considered a Deed of Company Arrangement (DOCA). This is a plan between a company in administration and its creditors through which a company can successfully restructure and exit administration. Council directed the CEO to complete negotiations for the DOCA with Administrators and other stakeholders.

On Wednesday 4 October, a Second Meeting of Creditors was held, chaired by KPMG, to decide the future of the CRC.

The Creditors considered three options:

  1. Accept the terms of the DOCA.
  2. Cease the Administration and return the Association to its current board of Directors.
  3. Wind up the Association, which would necessitate the sale of 89 Avon Terrace, York.

The Creditors voted to proceed with the DOCA.

Shire staff are now working with the Administrators to transfer services and re-open the facility.  It is expected that Lumen Wheatbelt Regional University Centre services will re-commence in October, with CRC services becoming available in November.

The Shire will keep the community updated on the DOCA process as information becomes available.
