Looking for a flexible senior role where your expertise truly makes an impact? The Shire of York is seeking a qualified and experienced Building Surveyor to join our Development Services team in a permanent part-time position (2 days per week). This is an excellent opportunity to apply your statutory building knowledge in a supportive local government environment, providing high-level regulatory advice, assessing applications, and helping ensure safe, compliant and sustainable building outcomes for our growing community.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess certified and uncertified building permit applications, occupancy permits and building approval certificates within statutory timeframes.
  • Conduct building inspections and compliance checks, including construction inspections and investigations of complaints.
  • Issue Building Permits, Certificates of Design Compliance and related statutory documentation (subject to delegations and authorisations).
  • Provide expert technical advice to staff, builders, developers and the community on legislative and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare statutory notices, reports, and documentation to support compliance, enforcement and legal proceedings where required.

 

Remuneration:

The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 7 of the Shire of York Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025 ($95,657.66 - $100,297.77) pro rata. Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s skills and experience.
