Are you passionate about community connection and making a real difference? The Shire of York is seeking a proactive and community focused Community Development Officer to deliver events, programs, and initiatives that support and strengthen our local community. This unique opportunity offers a three (3) day permanent part time role with the Shire, complemented by a two (2) day maximum term contract (6 months with possible extension) as a Student Support Officer for the York Lumen Wheatbelt Regional University Study Hub.

 

When combined, the two parts of this role are a full-time position with the Shire.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support community programs and events, from planning and promotion through to delivery and evaluation.
  • Assist with community development initiatives, including implementing plans such as Disability Access & Inclusion, Age Friendly and Youth programs.
  • Coordinate and maintain strong community connections, working with local groups, schools, and organisations to support participation and engagement.
  • Support the operations of the Community Resource Centre (CRC), including administration, reporting, and assisting with day-to-day activities.
  • Provide support to Lumen Study Hub students, including facilitating workshops, offering study assistance, and helping build student engagement and success.

 

Remuneration:

The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 4 of the Shire of York Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025 ($77,905.11 – 81,585.98) pro rata. Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s skills and experience.
