The Shire of York is seeking a motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented Finance Officer – Rates & Debtors to join our Corporate & Community Services team. This key role is responsible for the accurate and efficient administration of the Shire’s rating system, property database, and debtor processes, while delivering high-quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Offering a diverse mix of technical financial responsibilities and community interaction, this position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to essential services that support our community while building your career in Local Government.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Shire’s rates and property systems, ensuring accurate records and smooth day-to-day operations.
- Deliver excellent customer service, assisting ratepayers and stakeholders with enquiries and information.
- Maintain and reconcile financial records, ensuring accuracy across rates and debtor accounts.
- Oversee debtor processes, including invoicing, receipting, and follow-up of outstanding accounts.
- Support the Finance team, contributing to budgeting, reporting, and continuous improvement of processes.
Remuneration:
The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 4 of the Shire of York Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025 ($77,905.11 - $81,585.98). Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s skills and experience.
