The Shire of York is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated staff member to step into the role of Information Officer at the Visitor Centre. As a key member of the team, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and residents, providing friendly, accurate and helpful information about the region and creating positive experiences for our community. This role showcases all that makes York unique from our history and heritage to our events, attractions and local businesses while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Visitor Centre and contributing to marketing and event activities in collaboration with volunteers and colleagues. Due to the operational nature of the Visitor Centre, there may be a requirement to work additional hours from time to time to cover leave or periods of peak visitor demand.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for tourism or visitor enquiries over the front desk, email and by phone in a helpful, friendly and courteous manner.
  • Provide comprehensive accurate information to Visitor Centre customers on tourism products and services available in the York region.
  • Assist to maintain the Centre’s policy and procedure guidelines in accordance with compliance and regulation.
  • Assist with clerical and administrative services as directed.

 

Remuneration:

The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 3 of the Shire of York Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025 ($72,404.32 – $75,993.03) pro rata. Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s skills and experience.

Further Information:

All Shire positions are subject to a three-month probation period.
