The Shire of York is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Work Health & Safety Officer to lead and coordinate our Work Health & Safety (WHS) function. Key Responsibilities:
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
- Lead the coordination and continuous improvement of the Shire's Work Health & Safety Management System.
- Provide expert WHS advice and support to managers, employees, contractors and volunteers.
- Coordinate workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and corrective actions.
- Develop, review and implement WHS policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
- Deliver WHS inductions, training and awareness initiatives across the organisation.
- Monitor incident reporting, investigations and injury management processes.
- Coordinate contractor WHS compliance and maintain legislative and organisational records.
- Prepare WHS reports, performance data and recommendations for management and Council.
- Promote a positive safety culture through consultation, education and continuous improvement initiatives.
Remuneration:
The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 5 of the Shire of York Inside Staff Enterprise Agreement 2025 ($86,213.28 – 90,163.60) pro rata. Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s age, skills and experience.
