The Shire of York has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Co-Op outlining an in-principle agreement to work together towards a more formal arrangement to activate a portion of the Home Hardware and Macartney Street site in line with CBD Revitalisation Plan.
The Shire has appointed the Town Team Movement to lead the management of short term installations, community engagement and co-design to develop a Concept Plan for future use of the site which captures the vision of the local community.
Under consideration is the possible closure/partial closure of Macartney Street to create a public shared space incorporating parking and placemaking to connect Avon Terrace with Avon Park.
We have some ideas, but we want to hear from you! During July and August key stakeholders and the community will be invited to contribute to the development of the concept plan to ensure we create the best possible outcome that is unique, realistic and considerate of the community's vision.
