Disclosure of Gifts

The Shire maintains the Gift Register in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995 and associated Regulations. The register is also available for inspection at Shire’s Administration Building.

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for publishing and maintaining the gift register on the local government’s website, which needs to be updated within ten (10) days of receipt.

Councillor and CEO Gifts

The Gifts Register contains those disclosures of gifts that have been made by Councillors and the Chief Executive Officer in their official capacity, which are valued over $300 or are two or more gifts with a cumulative value over $300 (where the gifts are received from the same donor in a 12-month period).

Employee Gifts

The Chief Executive Officer has made a determination, under Regulation 19AF of the Local Government (Administration) Regulations 1996, that the threshold amount for employees to accept gifts is $10.

The Gifts Register contains those disclosures of gifts that have been made by Shire Employees, which are valued between $10 and $300 or are two or more gifts with a cumulative value between $10 and $300 (where the gifts are received from the same donor in a 12-month period).

The Employee Code of Conduct also explains further the requirements of receiving gifts.

To protect the privacy of individuals, the registers published on the website do not include the address disclosed by an individual donor and will instead include the town or suburb mentioned in the address.
