Development Application
1. Application received by the Shire
The Shire of York receives your Development Application and records it in the system.
2. Initial application check
We check the application to ensure the required documents and information have been provided. Once the application is complete, it is forwarded to the City of Kalamunda for assessment.
3. Application sent to the City of Kalamunda
The City of Kalamunda receives the application and allocates it to a Planning Officer.
4. Planning assessment
The Planning Officer assesses the application. Depending on the application, further information or referrals may be required.
5. Review of the assessment
The completed assessment is reviewed by a Principal Planner at the City of Kalamunda. If any changes or further assessment are required, it may be returned to the Planning Officer.
6. Assessment returned to the Shire
Once finalised, the assessment and recommendation are sent back to the Shire of York.
7. Review, fees and determination
The Shire reviews the assessment and recommendation and then contacts the applicant regarding any applicable fees. The Notice of Determination is then reviewed and signed by the Executive Manager of Infrastructure and Development.
8. Applicant notified
Once the Shire's internal processes are complete, the determination and relevant documents are provided to the applicant.
Building Application
1. Application received by the Shire
The Shire of York receives your Building Application and records it in the system.
2. Initial application check
We check the application to ensure the required documents and information have been provided. Once the application is complete, it is referred to the Shire's Environmental Health Officer and the City of Kalamunda Planning Team for relevant comments.
3. EHO and Planning review
Once the Environmental Health and Planning reviews are complete, we check whether any further approvals or information are required. If no further requirements are identified, the Building Application can proceed. If the application is Certified, skip to step 5.
4. Uncertified Building Application – Building Surveyor assessment
The application is forwarded to the City of Kalamunda Building Services for assessment. A Building Surveyor assesses the application and prepares the Certificate of Design Compliance (CDC). Once completed, the application is returned to the Shire of York for processing.
5. Building Permit processing
The Shire checks the documentation provided, including the Certificate of Design Compliance.
6. Fees and final processing
We contact the applicant regarding any applicable fees and complete the Shire's internal processing. The Building Permit, relevant conditions and documentation are prepared and recorded.
7. Building Permit issued
Once the process is complete, the Building Permit and relevant documents are provided to the applicant.
