SHIRE OF YORK FUNDING POLICY CHANGES – IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Planning a community project, event or initiative for the 2027/2028 financial year?

The Shire of York has recently reviewed its C8 Funding Policy, introducing important changes to how community, tourism and economic development funding is administered.

One of the most significant changes is the introduction of a single annual funding round, allowing community groups, organisations and businesses to plan ahead for the coming financial year.

📅 2027/2028 FUNDING ROUND

Applications open: 1 November 2026

Applications close: 31 January 2027

This funding round is for eligible projects, events and initiatives planned for the 2027/2028 financial year (1 July 2027 – 30 June 2028).

WHAT'S CHANGED?

✅ One annual funding round – Community, Tourism Growth and Economic Development funding applications will now be considered through one annual application period.

✅ No multi-year funding – Multi-year funding arrangements will no longer be offered under the revised policy.

✅ Funding allocation – Funding for successful applications will be distributed during the 2027/2028 financial year.

✅ CEO Sponsorship (up to $1,000) – A new funding opportunity is available year-round to support small-scale projects, activities and initiatives that provide a community, economic, tourism or promotional benefit to the Shire of York.

UNCHANGED

✅ Online applications – All applications must continue to be submitted online through the Shire of York website.

WHAT ABOUT OUTSTANDING REPRESENTATION SPONSORSHIP?

Outstanding Representation Sponsorship will remain open year-round, allowing eligible applicants to seek support throughout the year rather than being restricted to the annual funding round.

To help our community understand the revised policy and available funding opportunities, the Shire of York will be hosting a free information session.
