Winners Announced - Australia Day Citizen of the Year and Sports Star of the Year Awards

The Shire of York and York Honours Reference Group are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 Australia Day Awards.

The winners were announced at the Australia Day breakfast held at the YRCC this morning. Those recognised were:

Community Citizen of the Year	John Crook
Community Citizen of the Year – Youth	Chloe Buckingham
Community Citizen of the Year – Senior	Peter & Cherie Thorp
Active Citizenship (Event or Group)	Eliza’s Game
Sports Star of the Year – Youth	Etonche van Emmerloot
Sports Star of the Year - Senior	Belwyn Fairclough
